Your Responsibilities
- Independent research in the philosophy of physics
- Conception, development and further elaboration of an independent research project in the philosophy of physics
- Preparation and submission of a national or international grant application, in particular to the FWF, EU or comparable funding institutions
- Research on foundational problems of quantum mechanics, relativistic quantum mechanics and/or quantum field theory
- Scientific exchange and collaboration within the research environment of classical phenomenology, especially in the context of the philosophy of physics and the philosophy of science
- Participation in national and international academic networking in philosophy of physics including participation and (co-)organisation of scientific events
- Participation in organizational and administrative tasks of the working group
Your Profile
- Completed doctoral or Ph.D. degree in physics, mathematics, or philosophy
- Proven research focus in the philosophy of physics and/or foundations of quantum theory
- Research experience at the interface of physics, mathematics, and philosophy
- Specialization at the interface of quantum theory and special relativity
- Very good knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- the measurement problem and interpretations of quantum mechanics, such as the Copenhagen interpretation, Bohmian mechanics, collapse theories, agent-centered interpretations / QBism, many-worlds interpretation, etc.
- quantum theory of measurement
- relativistic quantum mechanics
- Bell’s theorem
- foundations of quantum field theory
- Publications in the foundations of physics, philosophy of physics, mathematical physics, or related fields
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and German
- Ability to conduct independent academic research
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Scientific curiosity, initiative, and willingness to engage in interdisciplinary and international exchange

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 70,200.20 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.
